Hello, I’m James – part-time baker, full-time feeder, and founder of JAMES BAKES. If you’re wondering when the obsession with baking began, let’s rewind to a small kitchen, a big bowl of fruit, and my Mum’s generous hand with a bottle of port (seriously, the cake was basically tipsy). Every September, she’d begin the sacred ritual of soaking fruit for her legendary Christmas cake – a moist, rich masterpiece that took three months of love, patience, and periodic “just checking” spoonfuls.

That’s where it started. But what kept the flame (or fan oven) burning was her philosophy: take pride in everything you do. Whether it’s a towering layer cake or a humble brownie, every mouthful should matter. Every bite should be baked to be remembered.
Fast forward to now, and after years of lovingly feeding friends, family, and anyone who conveniently “popped by,” I’ve been told – more than once – “James, you need to let other people try this!”
So here we are.
